Valves, a key piece of equipment, play an indispensable role in many industries, while their working environments vary widely. For those valves in harsh conditions, it is more likely to encounter a variety of problems. Especially large valves, once the failure, repair or replacement will become very tricky. Therefore, routine maintenance and repair is particularly important. Next, let us understand some of the basic knowledge about the valve maintenance and maintenance.
First, the valve storage and daily inspection
Storage environment: the valve should be stored in a dry and well-ventilated room, and to ensure that the two ends of the channel is blocked to prevent dust and moisture intrusion.
Regular inspection: for long-term storage of the valve, it should be cleaned regularly to remove dirt and apply rust preventive oil on the processing surface to prevent rusting.
Post-installation inspection: After the valve is installed, it should be fully inspected periodically, mainly including:
The degree of wear of the sealing surface.
Wear of stem and stem nut trapezoidal threads.
The condition of the packing, such as obsolete or failure, should be replaced in time.
Valve maintenance assembly, be sure to carry out sealing performance test to ensure its good performance.
Second, the maintenance of the valve greasing
Valve before and after the commissioning of professional maintenance work, to ensure that the normal function of the valve in production operations is critical. Correct, orderly and effective maintenance, not only to protect the valve, but also to extend its service life. However, the valve maintenance work may seem simple, but it contains many aspects that are often overlooked.
Control of grease injection: In the process of grease injection, many operators tend to ignore the control of grease injection. Insufficient grease injection will lead to the sealing surface due to the lack of lubricant and accelerate the wear, while excessive grease injection will cause waste. In order to avoid this situation, accurate calculations should be made according to the type of valve and sealing capacity, and then the appropriate amount of grease should be reasonably injected.
Attention to grease injection pressure: When injecting grease, changes in pressure are also critical. Too low a pressure may lead to seal failure or leakage, while too high a pressure may lead to clogging of the grease injection port, hardening of the grease inside the seal, or adhesion of the seal to the valve ball or valve plate. Therefore, during the greasing process, the pressure change should be closely monitored and adjusted according to the actual situation. If the pressure is too low, the grease may mainly flow into the bottom of the valve cavity (this is especially common in small gate valves). And if the pressure is too high, the grease filler nozzle should be checked for clogging and replaced if necessary. Also, the failed sealing grease should be softened repeatedly with a cleaning solution and replaced with new grease. In addition, the seal type and material will also affect the grease injection pressure, so you should choose the appropriate grease injection pressure according to the specific circumstances.
Follow the above recommendations, I believe that the valve maintenance and repair for the extension of valve life will be very beneficial, but also can reduce many unnecessary trouble and cost.
