Valve electric device maintenance strategy

Regular maintenance of your valve electric device ensures stable operation and extends its service life. This article provides key maintenance steps to help you keep your equipment in the best condition.
First, lubrication management
Lubrication is the core measure to reduce the friction of moving parts, focus on:
Valve stem trapezoidal threads
Stem nut and bracket sliding surface
Bearings, gears and worm gear meshing place
Operating points:
Select high temperature grease for high temperature or high frequency applications.
Repair missing oil cups/nipples to ensure smooth oil flow.
Frequency: Weekly lubrication for high-frequency equipment, monthly lubrication for low-frequency equipment.
II. Component Inspection
Regularly check the following
Whether the flange/bracket bolts are complete and not loosened.
Whether the threads of fasteners are intact
Whether the electrical system is firmly connected
Safety Note: Be sure to disconnect the power supply before maintenance.
Cleaning and maintenance
Dust, oil and media residue will accelerate wear and tear, need to be cleaned:
The external surface of the equipment (dry cloth wipe or compressed air blowing)
Moving parts (non-corrosive cleaning agents)
Electrical enclosure (to prevent moisture buildup)
Note: High-pressure water rinsing is prohibited for actuators containing electronic components.
Four, manual function test
The device with manual mode is required:
Regularly operate the handwheel to confirm smooth operation
Check whether the manual and automatic mode switching is synchronized
V. Position indication verification
Confirm that the visual indicator and the actual state of the valve consistent
Test limit switches and proximity sensors feedback accuracy
Environmental protection
Apply rust inhibitor to bare metal in corrosive environments.
Check seals for leakage or deterioration
Maintenance Interval Reference Table
Maintenance Items Frequency of Performance Tools Required
Lubrication Weekly – Monthly Grease gun, grease checklist
Visual inspection Every two weeks Flashlight, torque wrench
Function test Quarterly Multimeter, pressure gauge
SUMMARY
Systematic maintenance prevents valve motorization downtime and ensures efficient system operation. For complex repairs, it is recommended that you contact a team of ASME/API certified professionals who use genuine parts and quality lubricants to enhance reliability.
